Now that you know the page rank of your website how do you go about Increasing Your Google Page Rank? Well first understand the actual page rank = PR of a website is a trade secret that only a handful of Google employees know the actual formula to. The system was named after Google cofounder Larry Page and is designed to equalize and determine the authority of websites with a mathematical system that gives more weight to sites Google determines are more important than other sites.
It therefore goes with out saying a site such as DMOZ, Yahoo, Technorati are given high page ranks in the upper end of the scale of 0 to 10. These are some well-known high page rank sites as where your site might be not so important in the eyes of the Google bot and only garnish a zero, one, or two. There are several factors that work into figuring out a sites PR, content originality, number of indexed pages and the main factors the number and quality of back links pointing to a site.
The last one being the hardest for new sites to score high for unless you are starting with a domain that has some carry over PR from one of its previous lives you’ll be starting out with a n/a or 0. There are many ways to help your page rank but they all boil down to back links and more importantly high quality back links, which will increase your sites, link popularity which is the main factor to your site’s PR.
A word to the would be site owner that just wants to go out and get tons of page rank 7, 8 and 9 sites to his PR0 site. Google loves it natural and hates artificially boosted site rankings. They want to see it in a way that would happen by people linking to your site because of high quality unique content. This is actually what I would consider job one. Load your site regularly with new well-written unique content and go about your link building in a progressive manner.
It is ok to start out with just a few links a week. Also, vary up the PR of these links. Don’t go after all Pr 6+ sites to your PR0 site get links from a wide range of sites with PR1 to 6 and maybe a PR 6+ once in awhile. Remember today’s PR0 is tomorrow’s PR4 and just as hopefully your PR goes up so will theirs giving you more value as your domains age.
